My work life so far

There was a time when I had no idea what skills I had or career options to choose. After my PGDM course, I discovered quite a few skill sets in me, further sharpened in my first job at Mellow Designs (A Branding, Design and Marketing Studio), where I was given the responsibilities of General Manager to handle Project Management, Sales, HR Ops, Finance, Legal and Communications, as I joined at a very early stage and I got to know all the avenues I can work for.

As we scaled up and increased the volume of all the departments above, I finally settled with Human Resource Operations Management primarily. I supervised other key departments with the proper team for each of them.

​

I can proudly say I discovered my work-OCD to finishing a task I'm responsible for, keeping in mind to find a solution for every problem and ensure transparency and clarity from all angles.

​

I am currently looking for opportunities to work in a new space as an HR Operations Manager.

Experience Journey

HR Operations Manager at Mellow Designs, Bengaluru

Sept 2020 - Present

As an HR Operations Manager, my role requires me to perform the following job roles, which are described below in detail:

​

  1. Manage the entire employee lifecycle such as Interviewing, onboarding, induction, timely appraisals, policy implementations and exit formalities to ensure smooth operations in the HR department.

  2. Maintain the human resource information system (HRIS) by keeping records of the entire employee databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date employee data, and adhering to confidentiality and data protection laws.

  3. Implement accurate and timely payroll processing to the employees along with salary slips and related documents.

  4. Ensure company policy implementation, adherence and timely updates by regularly communicating the policies to the team leads to ensure smooth conduct in different departments.

  5. Manage employee attendance record keeping, leave management, employee records and appraisals through the human resource management system (HRMS) portal - KEKA to streamline the HR processes efficiently.

  6. Assist with employee relations matters, such as conflict resolution and workplace investigations by maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately to secure a healthy workspace atmosphere.

  7. Assist the hiring managers with workforce planning activities, including analyzing staffing needs, and supporting recruitment efforts with the talent acquisition member to ensure timely hires and personnel management, by using ATS platforms and automation.

  8. Address inquiries and tickets related to company policies, payroll, salary deductions, asset management and other HR administration matters to resolve employee queries and maintain transparency.

  9. Major coordination happens with the talent acquisition member for hiring needs, team leads for appraisal, feedback, reporting and exit, the finance team for payroll and the founder for understanding the company goals and implementing them in the Human Resource Operations.

  10. Fostered the culture and scalability of the company by getting involved in high-level decision-making and supported company growth in terms of automation, business efficiency and stability in workforce management.

  • Introduced company policies, HR automation, tools and SOPs to structure the company growth, and support transparency and efficiency, leading to 5x growth in workforce and scale of business.

  • Improved employee retention and stabilized workforce management, which helped the start-up sustain itself in the initial years.

  • Markstrat – Secured 1st position (with share price index being 3630), where groups competed in a virtual marketing simulation game.

  • HEC Montreal – Secured 3rd position with two members in an ERP Simulation Game.

  • Promoted my college aggressively by increasing reach on all social media platforms by being a core member of Media & PR.

  • Successfully conducted IMI Bhubaneswar's first-ever TEDx event, being the Co-organizer.

  • Conducted CSR activities in Yuva Utkal Foundation by interacting with and helping the senior citizens at old age homes.

Tools learnt: Learned C and C++ languages and Tally ERP, MS Office & SPSS environment.

  • Awarded the Certificate of Merit for outstanding performance in Debate Competition on ‘AUTISM’ conducted by MAN Trust.

  • Coordinated B-Quiz, the flagship event, "Genesis" management event, where students (around 150 footfall) from different colleges were tested managerial knowledge through a set of quizzes.
